What Does Acts 18:24 Mean?
While Paul travels overland, Luke turns our eyes back to Ephesus and to a new figure. Apollos comes from Alexandria, the empire's great seat of learning and home to a vast Jewish community, where the Scriptures had long been read and studied in Greek. He arrives gifted twice over: powerful in speech and deeply versed in the sacred text.
God raises up servants Paul never recruited, with gifts Paul never had in the same measure. Eloquence and learning are not rivals to grace; consecrated, they become its instruments.
