What Does Acts 19:11 Mean?
Luke's wording is exact: God wrought the miracles, and Paul's hands were the instrument. The Greek calls them powers of no ordinary kind; even by the measure of the apostles these stood out. In a city famed for magic and charms, God displays power of an entirely different order, neither purchased nor conjured.
In Acts the Lord confirms His word with His works (Mark 16:20; Heb 2:4), and the glory belongs to the Worker, not the tool. Paul carries no power of his own; he is a yielded hand. So with every servant of Christ: the question is never our strength, but what the Lord may do through hands surrendered to Him.
