What Does Acts 19:13 Mean?
Ephesus traded in spells, and wandering exorcists made their living pronouncing powerful names over the afflicted. Watching Paul, some add Jesus to their inventory, secondhand and unsurrendered: "Jesus whom Paul preacheth." The name is borrowed; the heart is elsewhere.
The name of Jesus is not an incantation, and His power cannot be hired. In Acts, His name heals through faith in Him (Acts 3:16), within a living relationship of trust and obedience.
