What Does Ecclesiastes 3:10 Mean?
The Preacher reports what he has watched in the lives of others and his own: a God-given task, a weight of work and care that keeps humanity busy from cradle to grave. He calls it travail, a laboring that is real and sometimes heavy.
Yet he does not say this burden is meaningless cruelty. It is given by God to exercise us, to engage and shape us. Our labor is not an accident but part of how the Creator forms His creatures.
