What Does Ecclesiastes 8:4 Mean?
The Preacher states plainly the reality of earthly power. The king's command goes out with force behind it, and an ordinary subject cannot simply demand an explanation from him.
Yet the same words point beyond every human throne. There is One whose word truly carries all power, and to whom every ruler must finally answer. Earthly authority is real but limited; it stands under a higher King whose word spoke the world into being and before whom even kings must give account.
