What Does Ecclesiastes 8:7 Mean?
The Preacher names a fundamental limit of human life: the future is hidden from us. We cannot see what lies ahead, and no adviser can tell us the appointed hour of things to come.
Far from leaving us hopeless, this ignorance invites faith. Since we cannot know tomorrow, we are freed from the impossible task of controlling it and called instead to entrust each unknown day to God, who alone holds the future and walks with us into it.
