Exodus 29 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God shows how to set the priests apart for their special job — and gives the most wonderful promise about why the tent matters at all.

Today's Story

God explained how to set the priests apart to begin their special work in His tent. It was a holy, serious ceremony. They were washed clean with water, dressed in their special clothes, and set apart to serve God.

This wasn't just a job — it was a calling. The priests were chosen to stand between God and the people, helping the people come close to God.

And then God gave the most wonderful promise of all. He said, “I will live among the people of Israel, and I will be their God. They will know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of Egypt so I could live among them.”

That was the whole point of everything — all the tent, all the clothes, all the careful plans. God wanted to live with His people and be their God. That's what He had wanted all along.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. God's deepest wish was to live with His people. How does it feel that God wants to be your God and live close to you?
  2. The priests were “set apart” for a special job. What special thing do you think God might have for you to do?
  3. Everything — the tent, the clothes, the ceremony — was so God could be close to His people. What lengths has God gone to to be close to YOU? (Hint: He sent Jesus.)
