God's radiance shone like the dawn, rays flashing from His hand, where His hidden power was concealed.

What Does Habakkuk 3:4 Mean?

The vision of God's glory grows more brilliant. His brightness blazes like light itself; rays — pictured as "horns" of light — flash from His hand. And yet in that very hand lies "the hiding of his power": what is revealed is only a glimpse of a might far greater than what can be seen.

This is a profound note. Even at His most dazzling, God's full power remains veiled; the radiance we behold conceals depths we cannot fathom. The brightness is real, but it is the edge of an infinite strength held in reserve. For the worshiper, this inspires both awe and comfort: the God whose mere glimpse outshines the sun holds reserves of power beyond imagining. What He shows is glorious; what He withholds is greater still — and all of it is in the hand that works salvation for His people.
