Israel has farmed wickedness and harvested sin, feeding on lies because it trusted in its own way and its many warriors.

What Does Hosea 10:13 Mean?

Set against the gracious call just given, this verse shows the harvest Israel actually chose. They plowed wickedness and reaped iniquity, and the lies they believed became the very food they ate. The reason is named plainly: they trusted in their own way and in the great number of their soldiers rather than in the LORD.

What we cultivate is what we will eat. To trust in our own strength and strategy is to feed on falsehood that cannot finally nourish. The verse exposes the deception of self-reliance and turns the heart back to the only sure ground of trust, the God whose salvation does not depend on the multitude of any army.
