Hundreds of years before Jesus, Isaiah wrote a poem about Someone who would love us so much that He would take our hurt for us. It's one of the most amazing promises in the Bible.
Today's Story
Long before Jesus came, God showed Isaiah a picture of Someone special who would come one day.
This Someone wouldn't be flashy or fancy. He'd be gentle and humble. Isaiah said He'd be like a lamb — quiet and kind.
But here's the amazing part. Isaiah said this Someone would carry OUR sadness and OUR wrongs. The hurts that should have been ours — He would take them on Himself, so that we could be made well. “By His wounds,” Isaiah wrote, “we are healed.”
Isaiah said we're all like sheep who wandered off and got lost — but this gentle Someone would come to bring us home, even though it would cost Him.
Why would Someone do that? Love. That's the only reason. He loved us that much.
And hundreds of years later, it all came true in Jesus — the gentle One who loved us enough to carry what we couldn't, so we could come home to God.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Isaiah said the special Someone would be gentle, like a lamb. Jesus stayed gentle even when people were unkind to Him. When is it hard for you to be gentle?
- Isaiah said this Someone would carry our hurts so we could be made well. Who is someone who has helped carry something hard for you?
- Isaiah wrote this hundreds of years before Jesus — and it came true. What does that tell you about God's promises?
