'And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden'—the term 'burden of the LORD' is forbidden. The reason is that 'every man's word shall be his burden': each person will be held accountable for what they speak. Their own words will become their judgment.
'For ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God' explains the offense: they have twisted God's actual words (in Scripture and in genuine revelation) for false purposes. Perversion of God's word is perversion of the God of hosts, the One who commands all armies and power. It is a grave offense.
