What Does Job 23:8 Mean?
After voicing his longing to reach God's seat, Job confronts the painful reality: God seems absent. Forward and backward he looks, but cannot perceive Him.
This is the ache of the hidden face of God, when the soul seeks and does not find. Yet Job keeps seeking, and that is faith. The God who feels far is never truly absent from His own; the same Lord who seemed hidden would later promise never to leave nor forsake those who are His.
