Job 34:35 Meaning and Explanation

Now Elihu delivers his judgment on Job: he 'hath spoken without knowledge,' and his words were 'without wisdom.' In Elihu's assessment, Job's protests against God arose from incomplete understanding rather than insight. It is a strong verdict, though not without truth, for God Himself will later say Job darkened counsel by words without knowledge.

There is a lesson here for all who speak of God's ways in the midst of pain. Even sincere words can outrun our knowledge, for we see only a part. This need not silence honest lament, but it counsels humility. 'Lord, thou knowest,' is often the wisest confession. When we reach the edge of what we understand, it is better to trust the One who sees the whole than to speak as though we did.
