Joshua 1:10 Meaning and Explanation

The scene shifts from the mountain of private commission to the camp of public action. Joshua, having heard from God, wastes no time. He calls the officers -- the organizers who would carry word through the tribes -- and the long-promised crossing begins to move from word to deed.

Faith that hears God acts on what it hears. Joshua does not linger in his fear or in the comfort of the divine promise; he turns at once to obedience. The word that came to him is now passed on to others, setting a whole people in motion. So it often is in God's work: the courage given to one is meant to ripple outward, and the surest response to God's command is to begin.
