Amos 9 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

This is the very last chapter of Amos. After all the warnings, God shares the best news of all: He is going to fix and rebuild what was broken.

Today's Story

First, God reminded everyone that He is everywhere. There is no place too high and no place too deep to hide from Him. He made the stars and pours out the rain on the whole earth. Nobody can sneak away from a God that big.

But then God said the most wonderful thing.

“I am not finished with My people,” He said. “A day is coming when I will make everything right again.”

God promised to take what was knocked down and build it back up, like fixing a house that had fallen apart. He promised to bring His people home from far away.

And He painted a picture so happy it is almost silly. The farmers would plant so much, and the ground would grow so much, that the man planting new seeds would bump right into the man still picking last season's fruit! The hills would drip with sweet juice. The gardens would burst with good things. There would be plenty for everyone.

God would plant His people back in their land like a tree with deep roots, and nobody would ever pull them up again. After all the hard words, this is how the book of Amos ends — with God promising to make things good.
