Hosea was a messenger for God. God's people were having big parties to celebrate their food — but they had forgotten who gave it to them.
Today's Story
It was harvest time, and God's people were happy. The fields were full of grain. The vines were heavy with grapes. There was plenty to eat, and everyone wanted to throw a party.
So they danced. They sang. They piled up the food and shouted, “Look how much we have!”
But something was missing. They had forgotten to say thank You to the One who made the rain fall and the seeds grow. They thought the food came from their own clever hands. They had stopped looking up to God at all.
So God sent Hosea with a gentle, sad message. “Don't celebrate like the people who don't know Me,” God said. “You can have a full table and an empty heart. The good times you're cheering for won't last if you keep forgetting Me.”
It was a hard thing to hear. But underneath it was love. God wasn't trying to spoil the party. He was a Father saying, “Come back to Me. I'm the One who gave you every good thing. I miss you.”
