Joel 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Joel ends with the biggest promise of all: a day when God sets every single thing right, and becomes a safe place for the people He loves.

Today's Story

God's messenger Joel had one more thing to share — and it was about a great big day that was coming.

For a long time, some people had been unkind. They had hurt others and taken what was not theirs and thought no one was watching. But God was watching. And God promised that one day He would bring everyone together and be the Judge.

A judge is someone who looks at what is true and finally makes things right. God would say, “That was wrong — and now I am fixing it.” Every mean thing, every sad thing — God would set it straight. Nothing unfair would last forever.

And right in the middle of that big day, Joel said something warm and safe. He said, “The Lord will be a safe place for his people. He will be a strong shelter.” While God was making the whole world right, His own people could run to Him like running into a strong house in a storm. Safe. Held. Not afraid.

Then Joel painted the most beautiful picture. He said that one day the hills would drip with sweet juice, the streams would run with fresh water, and the land would be green and happy again. Best of all, God Himself would live there, right with His people, forever.

That is how the book of Joel ends — not with the hard year, but with God close, safe, and good.

Talk About It

  1. Where is a place that makes you feel safe and warm — your bed, a grown-up's lap, a cozy blanket? Joel says God is like that, only better.
  2. God promises to make every wrong thing right one day. Is there something unfair you have seen that you would love for God to fix?
  3. Joel ends with God living right with His people in a green, happy land. What do you think it would be like to have God that close?
