Philemon is a short letter Paul wrote to a friend. It helps God's family learn how to forgive and welcome each other.
Today's Story
Paul had a friend named Philemon. Philemon loved Jesus, and his house was a happy place where God's family came together. Paul wrote him a letter.
“I always thank God when I pray for you,” Paul wrote. “I hear how much you love God's people. Your love has made me so glad!”
Then Paul asked for something big. A man named Onesimus had run away from Philemon's house. But far away, Onesimus met Paul, and he learned to love Jesus too. Now his heart was brand new.
“I am sending him back to you,” Paul wrote. “He used to be just a helper. But now he is so much more. Welcome him like a dear brother. Welcome him the way you would welcome me!”
And Paul said something kind. “If he owes you anything, charge it to me. I will pay it myself.”
Paul knew that forgiving is hard. But he also knew Philemon had a big, soft heart. He believed Philemon would open the door wide and pull Onesimus into a great big hug.

Talk About It
- Has anyone ever said sorry to you after they did something that hurt your feelings? What did you do?
- Paul welcomed Onesimus like a brother. Who is someone you could make feel really welcome this week?
- Why do you think it can be hard to forgive someone — and what helps us do it anyway?
