What Does Lamentations 3:63 Mean?
'Behold their sitting down, and their rising up' — the sufferer asks God to observe his enemies in all their doings, whether they sit or stand, in every activity of their day. The phrase covers the whole of life; there is no moment when their hostility rests. He invites God to watch them continually.
'I am their musick' returns to the wound of mockery first felt at the chapter's opening, where he was 'their song all the day.' He has become the theme of their taunting songs, the subject of their entertainment. But now he names it in prayer, before the God who hears all their reproach. The mockery that once only crushed him is now laid before the Lord, who will not leave the scorn of his servant unanswered forever.
