What Does Luke 14:17 Mean?
When the meal is prepared, the customary second call goes out. The servant carries one short message to those already invited: Come; for all things are now ready. Nothing remains to be done, bought, or cooked. The guests have only to rise and walk to the table.
That is the shape of the gospel summons: the readiness is all on God's side. The feast is not a meal to which we bring our share; it is finished and waiting.
