What Does Luke 14:24 Mean?
The parable closes with the host's solemn word: none of the men who were bidden and refused shall taste the supper. The feast itself goes on — the house is filling — but the original guests have talked themselves out of their places. The 'you' Jesus speaks to here is plural; the warning lands on the whole dinner party around him.
No one in the story is shut out who wished to come in; the excluded excluded themselves. That is the tragedy the parable leaves with us — a door held open, and men too busy to walk through it. The feast will be eaten with or without us; while the servant is still calling is the time to rise.
