Proverbs 16:29 Meaning and Explanation

'A violent man enticeth his neighbour'—the person prone to violence and brutality doesn't work alone; he draws others in. 'Enticeth' means to seduce, lure, or entice—he makes wrongdoing seem attractive and compelling. His neighbor, initially perhaps uninvolved, is drawn toward him and toward his way.

'Leadeth him into the way that is not good'—once enticed, the neighbor is led down a path that is destructive and wrong. The violent man becomes a guide into ruin. This describes a corruption process: the violent person's influence is magnetic and seductive; those in his circle are pulled toward violence and harm themselves. The 'way that is not good' is the end result—moral and practical ruin.
