What Does Revelation 2:6 Mean?
Before closing the letter, Christ returns to a point of praise. The Ephesians rejected the practices of a group called the Nicolaitans, whose deeds led people into compromise. In this the church shared the very heart of its Lord, who says plainly, "which I also hate."
To love God rightly is also to hate what corrupts His people. The Ephesians had lost their first love, yet they still recoiled from what was destructive, and the Lord honors that. Hatred of evil and love of God belong together; one without the other goes astray. Here is a thread of fidelity the Lord will not overlook even amid His rebuke.
