What Does Revelation 21:9 Mean?
One of the seven angels who poured out the last plagues now approaches John. The same heavenly messenger associated with judgment becomes a guide to glory, an invitation to come and see. There is a deliberate echo earlier in the book, where an angel showed John the great harlot; here the contrast is the faithful bride.
The bride is called the Lamb's wife, binding the city of the previous verses to the people redeemed by Christ. The Lamb is the slain and risen Savior, and His bride is the company He has won. To be shown the bride is to be shown what Christ's love has accomplished. The reader sees that the end of the story is a marriage, the union of the Redeemer with all whom He has gathered and made His own.
