What Does Romans 14:22 Mean?
Paul speaks now to the strong believer with settled faith about his liberty. 'Have it to thyself before God' -- hold your conviction privately in God's presence rather than parading it to wound the scrupulous. Faith need not be flaunted to be real.
'Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.' Blessed is the person who can act without his own conscience accusing him afterward -- who approves what he does because he has weighed it before God. A clear conscience is a quiet treasure.
