Titus is to declare these things, encouraging and correcting with full authority, and to let no one look down on him.

What Does Titus 2:15 Mean?

Paul closes the chapter with a charge to Titus about his ministry. He is to speak these truths, encourage believers, and correct error, doing so with full authority. Then Paul adds a word of strength: let no one despise or disregard him. The authority belongs to the message, and Titus is to carry it with confidence.

Titus's authority rests not in himself but in the truth he proclaims. Faithful ministers can speak boldly because they speak God's word, not their own opinions. The warning against being despised reminds Titus to live and lead in a way that commands respect, refusing to shrink back. For the reader, this affirms that gospel truth deserves to be spoken with conviction. Those who carry God's word need not apologize for it; held with integrity, it carries its own weight and its own authority.
