The Raising of Lazarus
At the mouth of the tomb Jesus calls with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth,' and the dead man comes out still bound in his grave clothes (John 11). An oil on canvas by the Danish painter Carl Bloch (1875).

Carl Heinrich Bloch was a Danish painter best known for the 23-painting cycle on the life of Christ commissioned for the Chapel of Frederiksborg Castle (1865–1879). His warmly lit, intimate scenes are among the most widely reproduced devotional images of the 19th century.
