This sound teaching flows from the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which Paul has been entrusted to carry.

What Does 1 Timothy 1:11 Mean?

The standard for sound doctrine is the gospel itself, which Paul calls glorious and which comes from the blessed God. This good news was placed in his care as a sacred trust.

To be 'committed to my trust' means Paul holds the gospel not as his possession but as a steward holds a master's treasure. The message is glorious because it reveals God's saving love; guarding and sharing it is the highest calling Paul knows.

In the Original Language

euaggelion (εὐαγγέλιον), 'gospel' -- good news, the announcement of God's saving work.
