God calls them to hate evil, love good, and restore justice, that He might yet show grace to a surviving remnant.

What Does Amos 5:15 Mean?

The summons grows sharper still: hate evil, love good, and re-establish justice in the gate where it had been corrupted. The order matters, for right loves and hatreds must precede right actions. And the hope held out is tender: "it may be" that the Lord will be gracious to the remnant.

That cautious "it may be" is full of mercy, for it leaves the door of grace open even now. God does not promise escape as a reward for reform, but he holds out the real possibility of his favor to those who turn. The verse calls the reader to align the heart, to love what God loves and hate what He hates, and to work for justice, trusting in the graciousness of a God who delights to spare.
