The Lord declares Samaria will be reduced to rubble, its stones poured into the valley and its foundations laid bare.

What Does Micah 1:6 Mean?

The proud northern capital will become a heap of stones, fit only for planting a vineyard. Its walls will be poured into the valley and its very foundations exposed. The city built for permanence is unmade.

To uncover a foundation is to strip away every pretense; nothing hidden remains covered. This is judgment, yet it is also clarity, for a people cannot rebuild on what is rotten. Sometimes the merciful thing God does is to tear down what cannot stand, so that something true may be built.
