What Does Obadiah 1:19 Mean?
The promise becomes concrete and geographic. Those of the southern Negev will take the mount of Esau; the lowland dwellers will hold Philistia; the fields of Ephraim and Samaria and the territory of Gilead will all return to God's people. The borders push outward on every side.
Where earlier the people were driven out and dispossessed, now they possess again, and more. The verse paints restoration not as a vague comfort but as a real, ample reversal of loss. It assures the reader that God's purpose is not merely to undo harm but to enlarge His people's inheritance, giving back with increase what sin and sorrow had taken.
