What Does Philemon 1:25 Mean?
This is Paul's closing blessing, sealing the letter. He prays that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ would rest upon the spirit of his readers, and adds the affirming Amen. The letter ends where it began, in grace.
It is fitting that an appeal built entirely on grace should close by invoking it. Everything Paul asked of Philemon flows from the grace he now prays will fill them. The plural your gathers in the whole household and church. The verse leaves the reader with the deepest word of the gospel: that the unearned favor of the Lord Jesus is the air in which His people live, the beginning and the end of all our dealings with one another.
