What Does Ruth 2:22 Mean?
Naomi affirms Boaz's counsel as wise and good. It is best, she tells Ruth, to stay with his young women, so that no harm meets her in any other field. Naomi understands the dangers a vulnerable foreign woman could face elsewhere, and she sees in Boaz's field a place of genuine safety. Her advice is the protective wisdom of love.
This brief exchange shows Naomi awakening from her grief into care and counsel again. The woman who came home empty is now guiding Ruth toward security and blessing. Where Boaz offers protection, Naomi urges Ruth to receive it gladly. There is wisdom in staying close to where God's provision and safety are found, rather than wandering toward unnecessary risk. The Lord not only provides a place of shelter; He gives us those who lovingly urge us to remain within it. In Naomi's gentle direction, two women are learning to lean again into hope.
