Sacramento Bible Church For The Deaf

About this church

Sacramento Bible Church for the Deaf meets at 5619 Marconi Avenue in Carmichael with American Sign Language as its primary means of communication. Sunday Old Testament Bible study runs from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by worship from 10:45 a.m. to noon. The church specifies that voice interpreters are provided for the worship service but not for the Sunday class. A New Testament Bible study is normally listed for Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.; the current notice says that study is closed for the summer, so its restart should be confirmed before attending.

The congregation's purpose is outreach and spiritual growth among Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, whom it describes as equally valuable in God's kingdom and equipped to share the gospel. Its roots reach back to a Deaf ministry begun at Carmichael Bible Church in 1975. That work grew into Sacramento Bible Church for the Deaf in 1996 and has continued with Deaf pastoral leadership. An official livestream page links to the church's YouTube streams, allowing prospective visitors to see its signed worship and teaching. The clear interpretation notes are especially valuable: hearing family members can plan for Sunday worship while knowing that the Bible-study settings are ASL-centered without voice interpretation.
