Christ Episcopal Church

About this church

Christ Episcopal Church in Coronado, also called Christ Church Coronado, is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego on Ninth Street. Sunday worship includes Holy Eucharist Rite I at 8 a.m., a quiet and prayerful service, and Holy Eucharist Rite II at 10 a.m., which features a full choir and is followed by coffee hour in the courtyard. Times occasionally change, so confirm them online. Worship follows the Book of Common Prayer and the Revised Common Lectionary, and the bulletin handed out at the door lists the page numbers needed to follow along. The Gothic-style church was completed in the 1890s and is known for its historic stained-glass windows.

During the 10 a.m. service, children in 4K through fifth grade go to Clare's Cottage for Godly Play storytelling and reflection, then rejoin their families for Communion. A Prayground up front offers books and crafts for young worshipers. Youth in grades 6 through 12 meet on select Sundays in the Youth Lounge. Weekly gatherings include a men's Bible study Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., lay-led Evening Prayer Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and a grief group Thursday evenings. The parish also runs Christ Church Day School and a thrift store, and services are livestreamed. Visitors can enter from Ninth Street or through the courtyard gate on C Avenue, and volunteers at the courtyard welcome desk can answer questions after worship.
