Mission Viejo Church of Christ

About this church

Mission Viejo Church of Christ on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo holds Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m., and the service usually runs about 75 minutes. Worship follows a New Testament pattern: a cappella congregational singing with no instruments, prayer, the Lord's Supper every Sunday, and a Bible-centered sermon of roughly 30 to 40 minutes. The congregation began in 1970 and describes itself as an independent church not affiliated with any denomination. A Spanish-language congregation, Iglesia de Cristo, also meets, with Sunday Bible study at 9:30 a.m., worship at 10:30 a.m., and Wednesday study at 6:30 p.m.

Bible classes meet Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with classes for preschool and elementary children, a middle- and high-school youth group, and adults. During Sunday worship a nursery serves children two and under, and children from age 2 through fifth grade leave for Children's Worship after the congregational singing. The youth group for grades 6 through 12 also plans outings such as bowling and aquarium trips, and Vacation Bible School runs in the summer. Small groups meet in homes at various times, and the church also has a community outreach ministry. Seating is open, no collection basket is passed, and first-time guests can fill out a Connect Card at the Welcome Booth. Services are streamed on YouTube.
