Newport Harbor Lutheran Church

About this church

Newport Harbor Lutheran Church worships at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at 798 Dover Drive in Newport Beach. The weekly service includes a children's message, special music, preaching, and Holy Communion. Children are welcomed into the worshiping community and invited to participate in Communion; Sunday school adds Bible stories, songs, crafts, games, and friendship. An adult pastor's class is published for 10:45 a.m., giving visitors a learning opportunity after worship rather than requiring an additional weekday trip.

The congregation is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and shares the ELCA emphasis on worship, service, education, and God's grace. Its own faith-formation vision describes a worshiping family anchored in Christ, with relationships, fellowship, teamwork, and service woven together. The attached school also makes education a visible part of the church's identity. For families, the combination of a children's message, intergenerational Communion, and a separate Sunday-school experience signals that children are not treated as an interruption to worship. A newcomer can attend the 9:15 service, stay for the 10:45 class if it is meeting, and use the congregation's faith-formation options to find a next step.
