First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica

About this church

First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica worships at 10 a.m. Sunday at 1220 Second Street, with a live online feed and recent service recordings for later viewing. Visitors can expect Scripture, prayer, preaching, and prominent music within a Presbyterian service, followed immediately by coffee hour. The congregation describes itself as diverse, welcoming, and caring, and regards faith as a journey that can include both personal searching and shared community.

Children and youth begin in the sanctuary with their families, then move to Faith Group rooms after the Children's Time for age-appropriate lessons and activities. Programs welcome children from birth through fifth grade and support parents in nurturing long-term Christian growth; older youth also have dedicated community and formation opportunities. The church says it takes the Bible seriously as a witness to God's revelation, especially in Jesus Christ, while connecting belief with compassionate service to people in need. Educational events, music, mission, and fellowship provide ways to participate beyond the main service. A first-time visitor can watch a recent recording to understand the order and musical character, arrive for the single 10 a.m. gathering without choosing between competing formats, and remain for coffee to meet members. Families should plan for children to experience the opening worship together before transitioning to their groups.
