Light of Christ Ecumenical

About this church

Light of Christ Ecumenical Catholic Community celebrates Mass Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. at 1000 West 15th Avenue in Longmont. The service is also streamed on Facebook and YouTube. A Wednesday Mass is usually held at 9:00 a.m. in the church office, so visitors should check the calendar for that smaller gathering. Preschool and elementary religious education runs concurrently with Saturday Mass; children begin with a short sanctuary lesson, attend their class, and return to celebrate the Eucharist with everyone.

Light of Christ comes from the Catholic tradition but is not governed by Rome. It describes itself as inclusive of people across beliefs, relationships, and life histories, including former Roman Catholics, questioning people, agnostics, and atheists who value community and a familiar Catholic liturgy. All are invited into worship, baptism, Eucharist, service, and leadership. Middle- and high-school youth explore prayer, Scripture, and social justice and participate throughout parish ministry. The church's purpose joins liturgy and prayer with community building, study, collaboration, and service. For newcomers, the defining experience is a single Saturday evening Mass where children and adults reunite at the table, backed by livestreams, worship aids, bulletins, and past-service recordings.
