About this church
Striving for Perfection Ministries gathers Sundays at 10 a.m. and offers Wednesday Bible study at 6 p.m.; both are available in person and online, with recent teaching also available on demand. The church describes itself as a Spirit-led, African American, community-centered, nondenominational teaching ministry. Its services and instruction emphasize Scripture, lifelong growth in Christ, the Great Commission, and service to the surrounding community. Clothing ranges from casual to dress attire. Sunday youth ministries also begin at 10, and teenagers leave at 10:10 for a separate program location called Da Spot.
The ministry structure provides unusually clear next steps. Warrior Development Class covers orientation, spiritual formation, and ministerial development. Other groups include Women of Worth Bible study and fellowship, Couples in Covenant, children's church, teen discipleship, and a community youth program mentoring grades 6–12. Outreach runs through the JDB Education and Benevolence Foundation and includes volunteer opportunities such as USDA food distribution, alongside neighborhood support and service events. Children and teens receive age-appropriate discipleship and relationship-based teaching intended to build biblical knowledge, character, and courage. The public pages do not specify worship duration, musical style, Communion or baptism, parking and accessibility, hearing support, children's check-in or screening, or whether every Wednesday program follows the same online format.
