Belmont Baptist Church

About this church

Belmont Baptist Church worships Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at its Iris Drive campus in Conyers, with Children's Church during the same hour. The homepage lists Sunday School at 9:30, but the detailed ministries page repeatedly gives 9:15 for children, teenagers, and general classes. Guests should confirm which start is current. Midweek classes for all ages begin Wednesday at 6:30; Belmont Kids and youth materials describe a 6:30-to-8:30 window. Children's Church separates ages three through five in the Bay Room and ages six through twelve in the downstairs Fellowship Hall.

The church calls itself “the healing place for hurting people” and emphasizes spiritual maturity, ministry excellence, and loving relationships. Its history began as a mission in Lithonia in 1961. After several moves, the congregation started building at its present Conyers-area property; lightning destroyed the unfinished structure in 1991, and members occupied the rebuilt church exactly one year later. Ministries now include children, youth, college and career, adults, women, men, missions, music, seniors, and small-group Sunday School. A family can attend worship with age-specific children's options or come Wednesday for parallel classes. For Sunday education, an early arrival around 9:15 is prudent, but the conflicting official times should still be checked before treating either one as definitive.
