Union Baptist Church

About this church

Historic Union Baptist Church worships Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at 320 East Seventh Street in Alton. The congregation describes the gathering as welcoming and relaxed, with music organized around enduring biblical themes and preaching that explains the point of the Scripture text. Care for infants and children is available during worship, allowing adults to participate while younger attendees receive Christian teaching from designated leaders. Tuesday prayer and Bible study begins at 6:30 p.m. Beyond the principal services, sermons are available through the church's media page for people who want to hear the teaching before visiting.

Union presents itself as a growing and diverse Christian community where worship and Bible study lead into care for neighbors, fellowship, and service. Its ministry structure includes children, young adults, marriage enrichment, men's and women's groups, dance, and ushering. The children's program is specifically organized around helping young people know Christ, understand God's character, and develop habits of faithful living. Dance adds an expressive form of worship, while age- and life-stage ministries offer more focused relationships beyond the Sunday sanctuary. For a first-time guest, the clearest picture is a traditional Baptist congregation with one late-morning worship hour, a midweek study, expository preaching, and multiple routes into fellowship rather than a complicated weekend schedule.
