St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church

About this church

St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Aurora celebrates English Mass at 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, with Spanish Mass at 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. and noon Sunday. Monday through Friday worship begins at 8 a.m., plus a 6 p.m. Spanish liturgy Thursday. The Mass page says confession follows each liturgy, while other parish notices say it is available before Mass; visitors seeking reconciliation should confirm the timing directly rather than relying on the inconsistent wording.

The parish calls itself a multicultural community formed through prayer, worship, and generous service. Its history began in 1925, when Father Charles Henkel became the first pastor in July and celebrated the first Mass at St. Nicholas Hall on August 9. Sunday worship soon moved to Oak Park School's auditorium, and plans for a one-story church expanded into a two-story church-and-school design under a $29,800 construction contract. Religious-education registration now requests civil and sacramental records such as birth and baptism certificates, reflecting an organized formation process in both parish languages. Newcomers can choose a service by language and should consult the bilingual calendar for Easter, holy days, and confession changes.
