Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church

About this church

Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Bourbonnais publishes a 9 a.m. children's family Mass on selected Sundays and youth-led liturgies at 11 a.m., with weekend Masses livestreamed online. The visitor guide is more useful than a bare schedule: primary parking by the church fills early, additional parking is behind the church at the school, accessible spaces are near the main doors, and accessible pews are at the front. Non-Catholic guests may approach during Communion with arms crossed for a blessing rather than receiving the Eucharist.

The current church dates to 1858 and supports a 175-year parish story interpreted through stained glass, mosaic artwork, and a self-guided historical walk. Children ages three through second grade may leave the 9 a.m. Mass on most Sundays for age-level readings, storytelling, and activities before returning to their families. Monthly family liturgies invite children to read, serve, welcome, present gifts, or sing; high-school students similarly plan and lead selected 11 a.m. Masses followed by lunch and activities. The parish also operates a food pantry and prepares a 2027 Belize service mission. Because the researched site pages emphasize program Masses rather than a complete ordinary schedule, all visitors should confirm the current weekend times before traveling.
