Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church

About this church

Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church is an Episcopal parish in downtown Champaign whose own shorthand is “Ancient Roots. Warm Community. Meaningful Service.” Its congregation includes retirees, university faculty and graduate students, young families, teenagers, singles, lifelong Episcopalians, and people from other or no prior faith traditions. Worship centers on the Eucharist and the daily offices, with distinct liturgical styles rather than interchangeable services. Outreach includes neighborhood partnerships such as support for the downtown farmers market’s matching benefits for SNAP shoppers, and members can serve as readers, ushers, acolytes, altar ministers, or hospitality volunteers.

Sunday Mass is at 8:00 a.m. using quiet, traditional-language Rite I and at 10:15 using contemporary-language Rite II with music; Evensong begins at 5:30 p.m. Morning Prayer is offered weekdays at 8:30, Evening Prayer at 5:30, and a Rite II Mass Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. The church’s current official address is 102 North State Street, with a 60-space lot between State and Park streets and additional nearby parking. Nursery care is available during Sunday services. Morning and Evening Prayer use the red chapel door on University Avenue and ordinarily last 15–20 minutes.
