Hessel Park Christian Reformed Church

About this church

Hessel Park Christian Reformed Church worships on West Kirby Avenue in Champaign at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with a simultaneous YouTube livestream and an archived recording usually available later that day. Services last about 60 to 70 minutes and combine Scripture-shaped liturgy, biblically driven preaching, and music drawn from traditional and contemporary sources. A pianist usually accompanies the congregation, with choir, guitar, strings, winds, brass, or percussion appearing as members share their gifts. Communion is typically celebrated monthly, and the worship calendar follows the seasons of the Christian year.

Nursery care welcomes children from birth through age three, and a separate children's worship time for ages four through seven is offered when needed. Middle-school Sunday School currently meets during part of the main service, with additional classes organized according to the ages present. The church's visitor materials describe a community where people can grow, be known, care for others, and discover who God is, while also acknowledging a gracious range of views within thoughtful Reformed worship. Guests who want to prepare can download the weekly order of worship or watch a previous service, making the first in-person visit less unfamiliar.
