About this church
Ascension Lutheran Church is a Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod congregation serving Niles from its church on North Milwaukee Avenue. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by Bible study at 10:45. The congregation describes its identity as confessional, sacramental, and historical, grounding its teaching in Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions while gathering around the preached Word and the Lord's Supper.
The present congregation carries forward the ministries of two local church families: St. John Lutheran Church of Niles and Our Savior Lutheran Church of Norwood Park. That shared history gives Ascension roots in both the Niles community and the northwest side of Chicago. Visitors can come to 7429 North Milwaukee Avenue for Sunday worship and stay for the later study hour to learn more about the church's teaching and people. The official website also posts sermons and congregational information, making it useful for anyone who wants a clearer picture of Ascension's Lutheran worship before attending in person.
