First Free Rockford

About this church

First Free Rockford uses a seasonal Sunday schedule at 2223 North Mulford Road. Every Sunday in July and August has one 10 a.m. service with worship band, prayer, and a practical Bible message. Outside the summer pattern, the church offers an 8:30 classic service led by choir, orchestra, and organ and a 10:30 contemporary service led by a band. Each gathering lasts about 75 minutes, and clothing can be dressier or comfortably casual. First Free belongs to the Evangelical Free Church of America and has served Rockford since 1884.

Kids Church serves birth through third grade at 8:30 and birth through fifth grade at 10:30; summer care runs through fifth grade. Trained, background-checked leaders help families check in at the Kids Lobby. During the school year, Kids Club for age three through fifth grade meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, while Mom's Day Out serves toddlers and preschoolers on Monday and Friday. Local outreach supports shelters, youth work, pregnancy care, jail ministry, and nonprofit grants. The month of a visit therefore determines which service choices are actually available: one combined summer gathering or the separate classic and contemporary options.
