About this church
First Reformed Church gathers for worship from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 15924 South Park Avenue in South Holland. The hour brings together song, prayer, Scripture, and preaching, pairing hymns from the congregation's heritage with contemporary worship music. The church traces 175 years of proclaiming the Christian gospel in South Holland and describes its present community as intentionally diverse across race, age, family background, and income.
An educational hour offers Sunday classes for children, teenagers, and adults. OASIS Student Ministries is designed for sixth through twelfth grade, helping young people connect Christian faith with school, relationships, and daily choices. Nursery care and the church-affiliated Family Life Christian Preschool and Daycare extend its attention to younger families. Announcements also invite worshipers to coffee and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall after the service, creating an easy first point of conversation. The congregation frames its shared beliefs through the historic Apostles' Creed and emphasizes Christian unity amid differences. Worship leadership combines pastoral ministry with choir, instruments, and other musical participation. A newcomer can expect one clearly published Sunday worship window, opportunities for every age to study, and a congregation whose long local history is now expressed through a deliberately multigenerational and interracial community.
