Congress Street United Methodist Church

About this church

Congress Street United Methodist Church is a Lafayette congregation at 2010 Congress Street, across from Oakland Elementary School. Worship begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary and on Facebook Live. The blended service includes traditional hymns, contemporary praise songs, special music, and a dedicated moment for children and youth, who are also welcome to remain with their families throughout. Visitors can arrive early for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate in the parlor; parking is on church property, with accessible spaces and a ramp entrance on the north side.

The church belongs to the Reconciling Ministries Network and explicitly welcomes people across sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship statuses while committing itself to resist injustice and oppression. Dress ranges from casual clothing to traditional Sunday attire. Community involvement includes Congress Street and Brown Street gardens, children and youth ministries, shared family dinners, and recovery meetings hosted on site. The church even offers free Wi-Fi in its parking lot without a password, a small but concrete neighborhood resource. Visitors seeking a socially inclusive United Methodist congregation will find a clear Sunday hour, detailed arrival instructions, blended music, and several community-facing activities beyond the worship service.
